Why the name endures

Phillips trained at Robert Trent Jones II before establishing his own practice, and made his name with Kingsbarns — a links so convincingly old that visitors assume it predates the courses around it. His work is the clearest modern argument for Golden Age principles.

Design principles

  • Contour that reads as though it was always there
  • Width with consequence, angles that matter
  • Firm ground and the running approach
